- Immediately cease insuring new and expanded coal, oil, and gas projects and any new customers in the fossil fuel sector that have not published a transition plan aligned with a credible 1.5°C pathway.
- Immediately divest all assets from coal, oil, and gas companies which have not published a transition plan aligned with a credible 1.5°C and scale up investments in a just, equitable, and rapid global transition to a clean energy economy.
- Respect human rights, support a just transition and increase insurance coverage for clean energy projects.
How can students and graduates have an impact?
How can students and graduates have an impact?
The good news is that students and recent graduates have the power to influence insurance companies’ behavior.
The insurance industry is an ageing industry that struggles to appeal to Millennials and Gen Z, who care more about the climate crisis and want their jobs to have a positive impact.
Insurers need new talents and if these students make their voices heard, companies will understand that they must stop supporting fossil fuels if they want to successfully attract and retain an entire generation of new talent.
