What does the insurance industry have to do with climate change?

Insurance companies are enabling the fossil fuel industry by providing insurance coverage to build and operate fossil fuel infrastructure and invest hundreds of billions of dollars into coal, oil, and gas companies worldwide.

Insure Our Future demands to the insurance industry

  1. End coverage for new and expanded coal, oil, gas, and LNG infrastructure across the entire value chain.
  2. End insurance services to companies engaged in fossil fuel expansion or not aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
  3. Stop new investments and phase out existing investments in companies engaged in expanding fossil fuels.

How can students and graduates have an impact?

How can students and graduates have an impact?

The good news is that students and recent graduates have the power to influence insurance companies’ behavior.

The insurance industry is an ageing industry that struggles to appeal to Millennials and Gen Z, who care more about the climate crisis and want their jobs to have a positive impact.

Insurers need new talents and if these students make their voices heard, companies will understand that they must stop supporting fossil fuels if they want to successfully attract and retain an entire generation of new talent.
